Zombieland

As the poster says, "This place is so dead", Is it foreshading something to happen in October other than its release to theaters? Perhaps a Vaccination program that kills in order to stop the spread of a deadly virus that spreads at the speed of zombification? Well , lets not get crazy with it, because the link between nueral diseases in the last swine flu vacination and this simple zombie movie poster have nothing in common. Its just another depiction of the world on fire illustrating the global chaos that is expressing itself at this time in history.

Lets assume for one moment that this movie has a social engineering agenda behind it. (safe assumption). What quite possibly could that agenda be? Lets break it down shall we? Okay so its a zombie movie, right. That's the first thing to identify. Well, metaphorically zombies are traditionally thought of as mind-contolled drones of some sort or to put it in simple terms, brain-dead. Keep that in mind while I divulge further:

The hero role in this film is played by someone who has rules and uses them to survive. He also hates clowns. It is well ilustrated in the movie that for him, the worst kind of zombie would be a clown.

In the movie, "The Dark Knight", The clown was the villian and in that film, he repeatedly lobbied against using rules to survive. He stated that following rules is a mistake when your in a world of chaos and that he himself is an agent of chaos. He also implied that those people with rules would abandon them at the earliest sign of trouble and that they "would eat each other"... like fuckin zombies.

Side Note: Recently, in the real United States of Zombieland, there is a politically induced campaign to plaster clown faces all over the place to characterize the president as a villian. Is this movie a retaliation on that campaign?

So in Zombieland, there is only a handful of non-zombies and during the film, they are depicted as the type of people that idolize movie actors, talk about Hannah Montana, and spend all their time in virtual worlds or just want to eat junk food.
Yes, these are the non-zombies depicted in the film.

Ok, so if those are the non-zombies, who are the zombies? Well, the zombies are EVERYONE ELSE including all those "rednecks" that stockpiled all those weapons in case shit hits the fan. If you are unlike the non-zombies, you are dead and the worst type of zombie is a clown. What this means is, the worst type of zombie is the ones that don't follow the rules. They are "agents of chaos" like the Joker in the Dark Knight. These clown zombies will even stoop so low as to label YOU as the zombie!

so assuming my logic is flawless(not so safe assumption), what is the underlying social engineering agenda of this film?

ATTENTION ALL ZOMBIES OF THE UNITED STATES OF ZOMBIES, WE KNOW YOU ARE LISTENING BECAUSE YOU ARE WATCHING THIS MOVIE. WHEN SHIT HITS THE FAN, PLEASE FOLLOW THE RULES AS THEY WILL HELP YOU SURVIVE. PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM CLOWN ZOMBIES (OR ALEX JONES INSPIRED ZOMBIES) AS THEY DO NOT FOLLOW ANY RULES AND WANT TO PROMOTE CHAOS. ALSO: KILLING ZOMBIES IS AWESOME AND PROMOTES THE CULTURE OF DEATH WE ARE TRYING TO CREATE IN THE UNITED STATES BECAUSE AMERICA HAS TRADITIONALLY BEEN TOO INDIVIDUALISTIC AND WE NEED TO SOCIALIZE THE COUNTRY LIKE ALL THE OTHERS. SO IF YOU ARE ALREADY A ZOMBIE, THAT IS GOOD, CONTINUE WATCHING OUR FILMS AND FOLLOW OUR RULES. IF YOU ARE A CLOWN ZOMBIE, PLEASE DIE AND TAKE SOME REDNECKS WITH YOU.

  1. WONDERFUL post! :D

Celtic Rebel wrote up a nice one on zombies also: http://celticrebel.wordpress.com/2009/10/08/bring-out-your-dead/

I *really* hate labels lol but it seems like in the movie its a reverse psychology....for the people that DO NOT follow the mainstream collective are "zombies" (like I) BUT the ones who eat it up are so called "normal" oh please!!! They just want you to feel bad for having a brain and not falling for the okie doke.

BUT, I guess they're just doing their job, right? lol

    take care

  2. Ya celtic rebel is my inspiration, but I try not to repeat any of his findings. Although his work inspired me to re-watch the dark knight, which is why this article is very similar to his.
